The World Heritage Coast Hospitality Association (WHCHA) was formed in 2002. Its aims are to advance and protect the commercial and general interests of members along the World Heritage coastline.The objectives of WHCHA are -
- to promote the development of local tourism and hospitality businesses
- to increase quality and safety standards and raise awareness of their importance
- to be the focus for the exchange of professional advice and support
- to work with the local and statutory authorities to develop local tourism and businesses.
Type of membership
There are three types of membership available for the World Heritage Coast Hospitality Association:Accommodation members
Owners or managers of self-catering accommodation, B&Bs, hotels, guest houses, caravan parks, campsites etc. Click here to move down the page and read about the membership benefits for Accommodation members.Retail members

- Free assistance on compliance with statutory legislation.
- Free advice on grading and safety matters.
- Free technical support via the WHCHA telephone help line.
- Regular updates on legislative changes and the work of the Association.
- Networking opportunities.
- Inclusion in unique marketing initiatives made by WHCHA in the UK, mainland Europe and Worldwide.
- Special discounts for products and services.
- Access to low cost training and professional development.
- Use of the respected and approved WHCHA logo.
- Access to most tourism-related forums and committees covering all the towns along the Jurassic Coast, via the WHCHA Committee and the opportunity to have your views and concerns expressed by lobbying and negotiation with Local and Central Government. [Note - by representing businesses and properties throughout the Jurassic Coast area we are one of the largest lobbying groups in Dorset. We have direct access to members on all Local Authorities - many act as consultants to the Association. We are able to put specific issues of concern to our members directly to the powers that be.]
- The opportunity to take advantage of unique internet-based marketing packages developed specifically for WHCHA members through this website.
- As a member, you will have an entry on this website, with direct links to your own email address and website (as long as a link to this website is present on your own website). You will also be able to access and print off full page details of retail members, to assemble a useful compendium of tourist attractions, places to eat etc for your visitors.
- 10% discount on any website advert placed in the 'Resort Guide'.
Achievements of WHCHA on behalf of our members include -
- Working with organizations across Dorset and East Devon to bring in and utilize funding for the marketing of tourism in the area.
- Two visual imaging marketing displays covering the World Heritage Coast, including details of all accommodation providers who are members of WHCHA, which are being exhibited at major venues in Europe and China, also in 52 major shopping centres and 40 hypermarkets throughout the UK. These have achieved awards of merit in Madrid, Milan and Berlin.
- Promotions on TV and in the press both in UK and Europe.
- Representation to the Lyons' Committee on the effect of a proposed local bed-tax on tourism in the region.
