Ottery St Mary is popular for those wishing to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the beautiful surroundings of the Otter valley and is only 20 minutes drive from Exeter. Its medieval church was built as a replica of Exeter Cathedral. The town walk features the 18th century tumbling weir and there are also a number of easily accessible circular walks in close proximity of the town centre. It is the birthplace of the famous poet, Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
