Salisbury Cathedral

Salisbury (Wiltshire)

Nestling in the very heart of rural southern England, Salisbury is a medieval city with origins at Old Sarum. It has modern cafés, independent shops as well as the main high street names and traditional English pubs.

A visit to the magnificent cathedral is a must. Built between 1220 and 1258, the cathedral boasts the tallest spire in Britain, which rises elegantly above the sweeping lawns of the cathedral close. It houses the best preserved original Magna Carta (c1215AD), a unique 13thC frieze of bible stories in the octagonal Chapter House and Europe's oldest working clock (c1386AD). You can visit award-winning museums and period homes in the relaxed setting of the close.
