Each cottage is decorated, furnished & equipped to a very high standard. Immaculately maintained, with central heating, double glazing and fitted carpets. There is a woodburner or fireplace, television and DVD in each living room. Each has a bath with shower. Microwave, electric cooker, washing machine with tumble drier and fridge. Domineys is in a rural locality off a no-through road, leading to farms and a network of footpaths. The heated swimming pool, available every summer afternoon, is in the owners sheltered garden. The Area. Nestling in the Piddle Valley, surrounded by rolling hills and woods lies Puddletown, Thomas Hardy’s “Weatherbury”., with pretty thatched cottages near the church. The excellent village shop incorporates bakery, butchers, newsagents and P.O. Closeby is the antique bookshop and forge. The Blue Vinny Inn provides meals. Cricket and football matches are held on the sports field which also has an enclosed children’s play area. A pleasant walk through Puddletown Forest, amidst countryside rich in wildlife, leads you to Thomas Hardy’s Cottage. In the adjoining hamlet lies the delightful 15th Century Athelhampton House and Gardens and Tolpuddle, famous for its martyrs, is the next village. The lovely Roman town of Dorchester with its fascinating weekly market, museums and historic attractions is less than miles away. The Cottages Situated on the edge of the village, they are built on the site of the old Kings Arms coaching inn and, have been furnished, equipped and decorated to a high standard. They are warm and cosy at any time of the year. Mead Cottage. The attractive light and airy lounge/diner has a very well equipped kitchen area. A heated conservatory opens to a sheltered patio and cottage garden. There is a ground floor cloakroom w/c and upstairs a pretty double bedroom, two single bedrooms and bathroom with overbath shower. Relax in this south-facing garden, planted with shrubs, trees and flowers for year round interest. Mabel’s Cottage. The cosy and comfortable lounge/diner opens into a furnished and heated conservatory overlooking the patio and small walled garden. The separate well-equipped kitchen is also a breakfast room for two. There is a ground floor cloakroom with w/c. On the first floor is the double bedroom with floral fabrics; two single bedrooms and bathroom with overbath shower.These lovely cottages provide an excellent home from which to discover Dorset,’s unique attractions and World Heritage Coastline – all within an easy drive from Puddletown. Set a mile from the Jurassic and Heritage coastline, which offer wonderful walks. The Georgian seaside town of Weymouth offers a magnificent sandy beach, enjoy watching the boats and fishing vessels from the seafront or many restaurants, cafes and shops. A drive east from the cottages offers wonderful sea and coastal views whilst enjoying the many chocolate box villages such as Abbotsbury with its sub-tropical gardens and Swannery, Burton Bradstock and West Bay. There are varied activities close by with sailing and windsurfing in the sheltered harbour, sea fishing. Birdwatchers can enjoy the two RSPB reserves Radipole and Lodmoor at Weymouth, Portland Bill and Lighthouse is another great bird watching spot. Golf 2 miles (discount fees available) and riding stables. Sealife Centre, Monkey World, Bovington Tank Museum, Abbotsbury Swannery and the Swanage Steam Railway are great family days out. Our breakfast menu has many choices, with several items locally sourced and only the best ingredients used.  All our eggs are free range and from a local farm.  Our sausages are from Dorset pigs, home made and delicious.

We are currently awaiting grading by The Green Tourism Business Scheme, a national organisation that grade businesses on their level of ECO friendliness, as many of our business practices are designed to minimise our impact on the environment.  We recycle the majority of our waste, we use ECO friendly cleaning products, we use energy saving light bulbs and our used cooking oil is collected and converted to Bio-Diesel which is then used by the local taxi company.

Accommodation The Stables Renovations completed at the end of 2002. The large open plan lounge and dining area comfortably seats six people and includes TV, video, radio and CD player. The fully fitted kitchen has an electric cooker and gas hob, fridge freezer, microwave, toaster, washing machine and tumble dryer. Twin bedroom and bathroom on the ground floor. On the first floor you will find the master bedroom with en-suite.

The Barn Open plan kitchen and lounge with patio doors opening out onto decking area. Ground floor twin bedroom. Ground floor wet room, with shower seat and handrails. Second lounge on the first floor with fantastic views towards the fleet. Double bedroom with en suite, incl large corner bath.

Facilities The cottages are gas central heated which is included in the rent. Fully furnished to a high standard. Linen included. (Towels can be provided for a small charge) Both cottages offer good accessibility for disabled guests. Secure parking. Local post office/shop, pub and village restaurant all within walking distance.
